Biosintesi dell’acido ascorbico (vitamina C)

La biosintesi dell’acido ascorbico (vitamina C) è differente a seconda che avvenga nelle piante o negli animali. Nella figura 1 è proposto il meccanismo di produzione dell’acido ascorbico nelle piante.

Nella figura 2 è proposto il meccanismo di produzione dell’acido ascorbico nei vertebrati.

Nei primati la capacità di biosintesi dell’acido ascorbico è stata persa nell’arco evolutivo e l’HOMO SAPIENS potrà utilizzare vitamina C con la dieta e con l’integrazione farmacologica.

The biosynthesis of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is different depending if occurs in plants or animals. In Figure 1 the mechanism of production of ascorbic acid in plants is proposed. In Figure 2 the mechanism of production of ascorbic acid in vertebrates is proposed. In both pathways the starting molecule is D-Glucose. In primates the ability of ascorbic acid biosynthesis has been lost in the evolutionary arc and HOMO SAPIENS will be able to use vitamin C with diet and with pharmacological integration.
